I was listening to this song a couple of days ago and so I thought I would post it
Hold On by Michael Buble
Didn't they always say we were the lucky ones.
I guess that we were once, babe, we were once,
But luck will leave you cursed, it is a faithless friend,
And in the end, when life has got you down,
You've got someone here that you can wrap your arms around.
So hold on to me tight,
Hold on to me tonight.
We are stronger here together,
Than we could ever be alone.
So hold on to me,
Don't you ever let me go.
There's a thousand ways for things to fall apart,
But it's no ones fault, no it's not my fault.
Maybe all the plans we made might not work out,
But I have no doubt, even though it's hard to see.
I've got faith in us, and I believe in you and me.
So hold on to me tight.
Hold on, I promise it will be alright.
Cuz it's you and me together,
And baby all we've got is time.
So hold on to me,
Hold on to me tonight.
There's so many dreams that we have given up.
Take a look at all we've got,
And with this kind of love,
And what we've got here is enough.
So hold on to me tight.
Hold on, I promise it will be alright.
Cuz we are stronger here together,
Than we could ever be alone.
Just hold on to me,
Don't you ever let me go.
Hold on to me, it's gonna be alright.
Hold on to me tonight.
They always say, we were the lucky ones.
end of song
I am lucky that I have someone by my side. There are so many lonely people in the world. I love you Babe! Together we can get through this! Everything is going to be alright - it really is.

The Sea
So I'm re-reading "The Gift From the Sea" by Anne Morrow Lindbergh for I think the 3rd time - I've highlighted it and sometimes I just pick it up and thumb through it. She goes to the ocean for a few days by herself for much needed rest and solitude and collects shells and writes down her thoughts which are so deep and symbolic of the different relationships and stages we go through in our lives. For those of you who don't recognize her name she is married to Charles Lindbergh the famous aviator and they have a bunch of kids and actually lost a small child by kidnapping due to their fame. I can't imagine her heartbreak. One year my heart was broken and I took a trip to the Sea to San Diego and stayed at a charming little bed and breakfast within walking distance to the beach. I was so very sad but the ocean was healing and brought forth a feeling of renewal and closeness to nature and God. I so desperately need (not just want) to visit the ocean right now to feel the breeze on my face, listen to the seagulls, smell the salty air and just bask in the sunshine and just be for a few hours. I don't even want to analyze anything in my life right now - I just want to be present with no worries about the future. I want to walk along the sand and then have the tide wash away my prints and then walk away from the ocean toward home in the sun making new footprints that will hopefully be more solid.

What we eat?
All I am going to say for the day is watch the movies Food Inc., King Corn and Jamie Oliver's new show about food and you will strongly consider changing the way you eat. My husband Casey has been consulting with a health and wellness clinic and working with nutritional therapists which have really opened his eyes and in turn mine. For example, we are only eating grass fed beef now, milk without hormones, chicken without hormones, buying mostly organic and trying to avoid high fructose corn syrup plus cooking fresh at home. We will avoid eating fast food if possible. We really don't want to be extreme so yes splurging on pastries, ice cream or potato chips once in awhile will be okay or if we go to a family get together we don't want to turn our noses up at the food choices. As with most everything the more educated you are about something the more likely you are to change your ideas. This is the first generation in American history that the children are expected to live a shorter life span than their parents - due to lack of exercise and poor diet choices which is leading to increased diabetes, obesity and heart disease. I'm excited to start visiting farmer's markets this summer. I really don't want to turn into a freak though - stop dying my hair, wearing makeup and moving into a commune - so for those of you who personally know me please keep me sane. I will say this - I will never give up chocolate!

trivia
So I confess I am kind of a trivia junkie - I like watching the show Jeopardy to test my smarts. Or sometimes I will just grab a stack of trivial pursuit cards to quiz myself for fun - at least I don't read the encyclopedia. I have this book called "The Book of Useless Information" by Noel Botham and it's hilarious. I think I'll share a few tidbits today as I'm not waxing philosophical due to my 5 yr. old son being extra wiggly when he was cuddling with me all night long last night - we used to cuddle and then I would put him in his bed - well now he has a loft bed up high and I can't lift him up that high. I just need to put my foot down and make him sleep in his own bed - but honestly how much longer is he going to want to cuddle and he's my baby! But I am so tired today...
Back to useless information that I'm sure everyone can use for small talk at a party
Hitler's great-great grandmother was a Jewish maid
Jeremy Bentham, a British philosopher who died in 1832, left his entire estate to the London Hospital, provided that his body was allowed to preside over its board meetings. His skeleton was clothed and fitted with a wax mask of his face. It was present at the meeting for 92 years and can still be viewed there. (The British weekend at Bernies)
Albert Einstein couldn't speak fluently until he was nine - his parents thought he might be mentally retarded.
Alfred Hitchcock didn't have a belly button
Charlie Chaplin won third prize in a Charlie Chaplin look-alike contest.
The harmonica is the world's most popular instrument (not sure about this one - maybe it is in China?)
Mozart is buried in an unknown pauper's grave
Elvis failed his music class in school
now to make dinner...

reading
Here is what I envision for my blog and why I named it random - I want to post thoughts, quotes, passages from books, poetry, trivia, etc. whatever is on my mind. I have a goal to post everyday but know myself better than that so yet another way it will be random. I'm sure I will post 4 - 5 times per week.
I love, love, love to read and I devour words. Perhaps if I analyze why I want to start writing a blog this is at the crux of it all. I am educated and inspired by everything I read. I have loved reading probably since my Mom started reading to me. It is one of my chief goals with my kids to hopefully encourage them to love reading as I can't imagine how lifeless and empty my life would be without words. It always baffles me if I meet someone that says they never or rarely read literature. I know most people have to read for school, work etc. I'm talking about reading during your leisure time when you have a choice. My kids know how much I love to read as my nose is in a book every second I can get away with it - yes I feel guilty sometimes - me at the park on a blanket on the grass reading a book while they play on the playground but yes I will stop to push them on the swing. I read fiction and non-fiction - children and young adult books, biographies, classics, Oprah bookclub choices, poetry, self-improvement - I will work and post my favorite 100 books - I know that I sent a list to my sister once - I will see if I can dig it up and go from there - I always hate starting from scratch if I have put any time into it.
I find television to be very educating. Every time somebody turns on the set, I go in the other room and read a book. ~Groucho Marx
Books serve to show a man that those original thoughts of his aren't very new after all. ~Abraham Lincoln
No man can be called friendless who has God and the companionship of good books. ~Elizabeth Barrett Browning
A house without books is like a room without windows. ~Heinrich Mann
